Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

I made this for dinner last night and I really wasn'y going to blog about it but it came out so delicious that I decided I had to!  This is the regular meat sauce that I usually make for pasta but I haven't made it in a long time so I guess that's why it was so good.

1 large onion, chopped
5 cloves of garlic, minced
1 lb ground beef
1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup red wine
dried basil, salt, freshly ground pepper and cayenne pepper to taste

I sometimes add all sorts of other things like sauted mushrooms, peppers, frozen green peas, canned corn...

Saute the onion until translucent, add the garlic and saute until fragrant, about 1 minute.  Add the meat and mash with a fork until it is cooked.  Add the tomatoes and wine and spices, lower heat, allow to simmer for at least 15 minutes, the longer the better, stirring every once in a while.
Boil pasta according to package directions, do not overcook!!

Enjoy!
